Travel Log:  Entry #  9

by:  Flat Stanley
There are some different things here that people might be interested in.  We are in a different time zone.  When it is noon time here, back in the United States on the east coast, it is only 5 o'clock in the morning.  Also, the electrical power is different.  When I plugged in my alarm clock here, it slowed down.  By the end of the day, it was an hour slow.  The people here said it has something to do with electrical cycles.  All liquids are measured in the metric system.  You can buy a liter of gasoline but not a gallon.  They don't use dollars, they use Riyals.  One Riyal is worth about 27 cents.  The bills are very pretty and colorful.
I was able to travel into a nearby city.  It was very beautiful.  There were lots of statues and fountains.  The harbor has a long, wide walkway called the Cornish (pronounced Corneesh) that overlooked the bay.  There were lots of flower gardens too.  Unfortunately, I forgot my camera.
